Defend the Spinning Arm Bar from Guard, Version 2

Use this defensive technique when your opponent attempts to perform a spinning arm bar, while you are trapped in her guard. In this example, your right arm is being attacked.


As she pivots in an attempt to get both legs on the same side of your body, reach behind her left leg with your left arm.


Once you sweep her legs out of your way, place your left hand flat on the mats near her head.


Step forward with your right leg so that it is behind her tailbone. Then sweep your left hand across the mats until it is on the right side of her head, as shown.


Put your right knee down onto the mats.


Scoop under her head with your left hand.


Pull your right arm free.
