FUJI CT Open 2018
We had a blast competing at the FUJI CT Open in Naugatuck, CT yesterday. Our team consisted of seven youth students and one adult (me!). Altogether, we won thirteen medals - ten gold, two silver, and one bronze - with most of us competing in both gi and no-gi.
I'd like to give a special shout-out to Sophie, as this was her first BJJ tournament ever. She did a great job being aggressive and controlling her first opponent right from the start of the match. She ultimately got caught in an arm bar, but no matter; she should be proud for having the courage to step on the mats in the first place and for doing as well as she did against two very tough opponents. Great job, Sophie!
Last but not least, I'm happy to announce that our youth students won 2nd place overall. I was thrilled, as always, to see them all applying the techniques they've learned in class to the competition floor. They truly gave it their all, and we are beyond proud of them. Now let's start training for the next one!
